Remington 541X Target 22LR

I picked up a rare diamond find at a local gun show. After stripping it down it looks as if it is unfired. No marks on the bolt lugs or receiver interior. The stock has only two small scratches and no dings. It had the Williams sights and once cleaned up work well with a nice detentes.

What can anyone tell me about this rifle? What sights would be good to replace the Williams sights both front and back? Would a front iris sight screw into the front sight hood? What would work best for the rear in a micro adj sight? The sight mount on the left side of the receiver looks like it could adapt a few side mount types. Any Suggestions?

I tried getting info from the Smallbore.US sight and drew a blank. Any help getting started with this rifle would be appreciated.

you prolly have a CMP resale rifle . . . they sold a buttload of these unfired training rifles a few years back . . . methinks I paid $189 each for the two I bought . . . came with great sight kit (sights alone worth ~$200) . . .
