Hi. I'm interested in long range pistol shooting. i've experienced with 25 meters and 50 meters with my kimber 45 acp. I was close in the 9 ring at 25 and in the7or six at 50 meters. My question? Are there suggestion, skills, to extend pistol shooting to 100 yards. There are some people in the net who adfirm that culd it. Sorry for my bad english..

I would suggest you look into silhouette pistol. The standard course of chicken, pig, turkey, and ram are shot out to 200 meters. Best of all the targets are of course reactive and fall when hit. Good Shooting Bill Horton

We used to shoot long range in the UK, some odd made up matches on rifle targets at Bisley.
Do a search for ILRPSA = International long range pistol shooting association - although it was never really international....

9mm and 45ACP will work at 100-200 yds.
357mag is the best standard catridge for 100-300m.

I used to do fine with a 6" Colt Trooper.

Slightly heavier than standard bullets are better, and don't worry about hyper-velocity, its not needed.
But standard factory loads often work OK.

My ace load was 357mag, 180grain Nosler bullet at 1100fps from a six inch barrel.

It takes time to work out the sight settings needed, at 100 yds there is usually not a lot of drop, easiest to start with sights set on point of aim and work your way up - you won't be popular on most ranges if you're shooting over the stop butt.
Its helpful to have an assistant to spot the shots.

To hit the ram is really not a secret. Just hold the pistol very still, Apply a smooth steadily increasing pressure to the trigger that causes the gun to fire without disturbing the stillness and achieve perfect sight allignment before tthe pistol fires. And last Prectice, Practice, Practice. The reason the target distances are in meters is because sillhouette was imported into the south west U.S. from Mexico and Mexico uses the metric system of measurement. Thats not impossible, but pretty hard. I don't know for sure if 357 would knock it over.
There must be plenty of info on silhouette shooting in the US.

Rather than the 357 you mentioned you might consider the Thompson center single shot with the inter change able barrels , Mount a varible power scope on it and visit a sillhouette range . See what calibers are having the most sucess and buy the barrel that the winners are using. I got the cart before the horse as the scope has to come after you buy your barrel. I live in Italy . silhouette shooting is unknown. so it's very hard have someone to talk. in Italy some coaches believe that a trained shooter can hit a man size at 150 yards (!!!!???) wth service pistol and aproper tecnique. Is it true? I don't believe it. Sorry for the off topic statement, but only usa shooters can understand if it's possible.WEE

It possible, if you know your pistol well and have something to rest on.
~24" groups at that range should be possible with a .357.

While stationed at Ft Benning, Home of the USAMU, I was drafted to shoot a demonstration for visiting Congressmen. The challenge was to shoot an E silhouette at two hundred yards with the 1911A1 servoce pistol [ At that time}When the day arrived for the demonstration I hit the target 10 times in 10 shots. The E sillhouette is 19 inches wide And 39 high. I cheated and used my accurized target pistol. The bullet moved so slowly that I was able to shoot ,move to my scope and watch the hole appear in the target. The congressmen were appropraitly impressed. I held approximately 6 feet over the target. Good Shooting Bill Horton

Wow, that's a nice memory to bring out. Just curious - did you shoot standing or prone?
