USAS vs. NRA Classifications

I asked this on another forum, so far without a response. I thought that this might be a better place to get an answer. In the area where I shoot the International matches are run under the auspices of the NRA. If I were to shoot a USAS match, would I be able to use my NRA classification or would I have to shoot my first USAS match as an unclassified shooter in the highest class?

Separate agencies- you are starting from scratch with the USAS.

You would fall under Section 5.6.1 of the link above. To make it easy though, your known ability would roughly translate as follows from NRA to USAS:
NRA Classification USAS Classification
Master AA
Expert A
Sharpshooter B
Marksman C, D, E
Please keep in mind that these are rough approximations but should give you something to go with as a start. Hope this helps.

Thanks all. I thought that would be the case, but I was not sure. I used to be a member of USAS, but dropped out. None of the matches I shoot are sanctioned by them and I could see no benefit of continuing membership. If I start shooting their matches, I'll join.
