Here's a great idea for getting new youth interested in shooting sports. We use this every year in our Scout troop and the guys love it. ..
http://www.nssf.org/JrUSA/
It's the NSSF "Junior USA Shooting Team" patch. There's one for BB/Pellet/.22 and another for shotgun. Here's how it works.... The youth shoots the target with instruction from an adult. The target is scored. The adult goes on-line and orders a free patch for the youth shooter(s).
The target is a PDF format file that can be printed on any printer, as many times as you like. There is one patch per youth, but there is no limit to the number of times the target can be attempted.
It's a great thing to keep on-hand for visitors. Say a new kid drops by. You let him/her shoot 5 rounds at the target. Now here's the great part. In a week or so you'll be able to call them and tell them to come back and get their patch they earned! This is the perfect marketing gimick, since you'll be required to get their home phone number and since they have to come back to get the patch. What kid wouldn't want to go back and get their "prize"?
It's also a fun way to break up a long practice where the youth have been working really hard and need a break with something a little "lighter".
The patches can be given at an awards banquette. Younger shooters seeing 3 or 4 of these on the older member's jackets get impressed. There's simply any number of ways this is a GREAT idea.
There is NO CHARGE for the patch.
There is NO LIMIT to the patches.
There is a NEW and DIFFERENT patch every year.
