in Milwaukee Wisconsin USA this weekend? or are the people who are going, already on their way there? =:^O
It doesn't look like there's too much of real target shooting interest. :^(

I didn't see either the CMP or USA Shooting in the exhibitor's list. That's too bad. Maybe some of the USAS athletes will be at a sponsoring vendor's booth.

It was actually pretty good, and well represented!

Met Dieter Anschutz and Lones Wigger while wandering around on Saturday. Extensively handled and dry fired two (yes, TWO!) SSP's. One at S&W/Walther display, another at Champion's Choice. Was told arrivals in mid Fall at around $1,795.00 or thereabouts.

USA Shooting had a small, shared booth.

Dieter Anschutz is quite possibly the funniest man on planet Earth!

We also had a good time handling (fondling?!) various smallbore & air rifles. Spent well over an hour on just the two Champion booths (Shooters Supply, & Choice) alone. Also had a good chance to test fire the Air Arms air rifle at the plinking range.
None-the-less still disappointed that poor ol' USA Shooting was in a little bit of donated booth space, and CMP was not there at all. Even the NRA Store didn't have any useful stuff for clubs & competitors such as rulebooks, or chamber flags, safety brochures, etc.

The sad reality is that the overwhelming majority of gun owners in the US have zero interest in competiton.

In a way that is good thing, as "valid reasons" (such as target shooting or hunting) for gun onwership are not necessary here like they are in so much of the rest of the world.

IMO, that's why airgun and smallbore competition is so popular in many parts of Europe. Gun owners there need to have a government-approved reason to own a firearm and many times target shooting club memberships are much easier and affordable that hunting club memberships or hunting land leases (if they even have the stomach to kill).
