Rim thickness

Hello guys,
Financial situation forces me to use lesser than best ammo for my training and less important matches. I select my ammo by rimthickness: 1/100th of a millimeter. 1.01mm gives me continuous 5 shot groups that are well within the 10 ring (ISSF 50m target) Rimthickness 1/100th mm larger constantly gives 4 shots in one big hole and a flyer about half inch from the group of 4 shots. Can anyone give a scientific explanation for the one flyer while the other 4 are in one tight group - with only 1/100th millimeter other rim thickness?
Thanks,
Albert
