CHANGWON, Korea – Two-time Olympian Glenn Eller (Houston, Texas) won a gold medal at the Korea World Cup Wednesday in men’s double trap. Eller hit a 136 in the qualifying rounds and a 44 in the final for a 180 total score.
Unfortunately, Eller’s win does not secure the U.S. another Olympic quota, the ISSF will only give those out in men’s double trap, this year, at the World Championships in Lonato, Italy.
In second place, Italy’s Daniele Di Spigno had a 179 total score, whereas Binyuan Hu, of China, hit a 177 for third.
Olympic Training Center resident athlete Jeffrey Holguin (Colorado Springs, Colo) just missed the finals with a 131, finishing in seventh.
The Korea World Cup is held through Apr. 17, and features all of the shooting disciplines-- rifle, shotgun and pistol. For complete coverage of these events, please log on to www.issf.tv.
USA Shooting is recognized by the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) and the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) as the national governing body for the Olympic and international shooting sports in the United States.
