The DCM and CMP staff developed the course, and has just completed training a group of 101 JROTC instructors and junior leaders who are marksmanship experts as Master Instructors for the course. Master Instructor Training Workshops were held at Camp Perry, Ohio on February 4-5, at Reno, Nevada on February 14-15 and at Fort Benning, Georgia on February 18-19. The course introduces JROTC instructors to the JROTC air rifle marksmanship program, and trains them to teach safety and basic marksmanship skills as well as how to establish and operate safe air rifle ranges. New Master Instructors are already very active in teaching the eight-hour course to JROTC instructors in their areas. CMP staff has already shipped over 800 instructor notebooks and CDs to support the first courses.
