I have just found out that there are only 3 US shooters registered in the smallbore/air rifle portion of the WMG. That is terrible!!! I know that some have been concerned regarding the range, etc, but the shooting events will go off as planned, so do not let that deter you from entering. Come on folks, we need more people in these events, and all the events for that matter. There are at least 10 from Australia, half way around the world and only 3 from the states. Lets go folks!!!!!

I know you have done before, but it would be terribly helpful if you could post the link to the Games right here. Also, any good links to the instructions for getting a target gun into & out of Kanada?

I would be glad to let people know the link. Just go to:
www.2005worldmasters.com and all the info is on the site, including a link for paperwork to bring firearms into Canada.
Also, I just got an email from my friend up there with photos of the range that will be used, when it is modified slightly. This is the Biathlon Canada range area. It has a paved firing line, is covered and will use the 6-bull ISSF targets that are used in Canada. It faces north and will have storage areas for your equipment and it will have security. So, I guess things are going okay and moving along and should be ready in time for the WMG in July.
I do hope that we can get more Yanks up there to compete.

Don, can you tell us precisely where the Biathlon Canada range area is located?

Paul: The latest word I have, with an address to follow from my friend, is that the range is located northeast of Edmonton, on the way to Ft. Sask and Sherwood Park. It is just north of the industrial area and refinery plants and is in a science park that has a ski hill. That is it for now. Will let you folks know the address when I get it.

Don,
Would you ask your friend, please, if the airgun range will be in this new location (Strathcona Science Park) or if it will still be at the "original" site in the curling rink near 66St. SW and 9 Ave. SW (Ellerslie Ave.)?

Well I've answered my own question by calling the Edmonton office for the WMG (at 10am PST). The lady on the phone, Shannon, told me that the airgun site may be moved to place it closer to the sites for the cartridge guns. They are looking at a site "north of the river". From my map, I see a recreation centre in a park across the river from the Strathcona Science Park (which latter park was mentioned by Don as the possible site for the small-bore events). Maybe that rec centre is their target, but we will have to wait to find out. Shannon also said that the WMG is looking into getting the pistol events into an outdoor police range "in North East Edmonton", but she said it may be a week to ten days before things are finalized. It does seem, at this stage, that the pistol events will be held at a different location than the small-bore rifle events.
