Prone rifle set up question

Post by tsokasn »

Hello friends!
I have recently started 50m prone and I am on set up stage.
I use to cant the rifle(got it from 10m air) and many shooters told me to buy foresight spirit level i.e Gehmann 581 to assist canting.
My rifle is an Anschutz mod.1907,which has a cant adjustable foresight.
The metal element (i am waiting for a adjustable foresight) "drives" me to have the correct cant position.
Is it essential to buy the spirit level?
Thank you!

it's not essential to have a spirit level, but when you change to a adjustable foresight you will loose these metal guides that you currently have with these type, so it's a case of what do you replace them with, external level bars, a spirit level or a foresight tunnel that has cant indicators in, like the centra type and possibly the gehmann one. Unless or course you are getting the adjustable foresight which already has the level bars in, ie not the glass adjustable one. Colin

That is not really true. I have an adjustable front iris and it has cross bars in it- centra. Just buy a front iris with them in.
