Hard ball loads
Anyone out there shooting service pistols? Can anyone share their hardball load using bullseye power. Need a help with the long line.
Thanks,
Scott

Hardball load.
I also do not consider Bullseye to be your best choice. If you use a lead bullet for hardball practice then 4 grains of Bullseye is good. For the long line with a FMJ 4.8 grains of Titegroup works well for me and using 4.2 grains works well at 25 yards without changing my sights. Hope this helps.
5 grains (+/-) of Bullseye has been used for many years for hardball.
Like other posters, I don't use Bullseye anymore. Titegroup is my current hardball powder, but I've not done a lot of testing. I've tried 4.8gr at the long line and 4.2gr at the short line, but found that (old) Federal and Zero factory ammo shoots better, so I use it for all the matches.
BTW, in two of my guns the new Federal Gold Medal (red & black box) does not shoot well. In fact it groups the same as American Eagle (12+ inch groups at 50 yards). The older (white & blue box) still shoots very well, but I am down to a couple of boxes.

Why Titegroup? I dunno. Lots of people are using it, so I tried it and it works. It is cleaner than Bullseye. I have not chrono'd loads, but since a lot of people have found that 4.7-4.8gr TG give best accuracy, I would bet better than even money that it will be ~820 fps.
Titegroup, WST, Clays, VV N310 are all commonly used in target loads and are cleaner burning than Bullseye. Some guns may like one powder more than another, but you can probably find an acurate load with any of them for your gun.

Hard Ball Loads w/ BE Powder
Try 4.7 grs of BE for the Long Line;
4.0 grs for the short line.
4.0 grs for the short line.

I use 4.5 BE for the long line and 4.0 BE for the short line. I have a 14 pound recoil spring installed and it works for both loads.
