I would suspect that those two pictures are just marketing shots of the prototype, and not a hard and fast representation of what the pistol can/will come with. Since there's an 11mm rail system that both the scope and open sights mount on, I doubt it would take Steyr much effort to manufacture a set of iron sights to mount on the rail that would be available as a third option.Slowstdy wrote:Both sights (Scope and Open) are illegal for NRA silhouette.

Calculated using Ian Pellant's software, 7.5J of energy for a 7.9gr pellet means a speed of 561fps or 171mps.

Hi Lanning, the calibre of choice is .22, because of the advantage, the
larger diameter provides. However, you don't need much energy to knock
down a ram target that's only 18 yards away. I have silhouette swingers
set at the prescribed distances in my backyard 10 meter range. I rarely
miss the rams(18 yards) and the pigs(12.5 yards) using my 10 meter AP
and shooting single handed offhand; Turkeys(15 yards) and chickens(10y)
well.....after or during practice for ten meter AP, If I cannot regain focus,
I just shift to shooting the swingers for fun. I still laugh at the high power
rifle scopes and two hand creedmore positions seen at the AP silhouette
matchs. Someday I'll clean the targets, but the turkeys are my true
nemisis. Regardless of my prior fun poking...AP silhouette is really a lot
of fun, and they do have an open sight class, and you don't have to use
a two-hand hold if you don't want to.

The 7.5J power has been chosen because this is the maximum allowed power for free AP in most European countries.
Pistols (and in some countries rifles) with more than 7.5J require a permit.
I guess that more powerful, i.e. >7.5J, versions of this pistol will be available for countries where the 7.5J limit doesn't exist, just like it is already the case for air rifles.
There is another hint that more powerful versions are foreseen: the leaflet says 100 shots/cylinder. This is much less than what a 7.5J LP10 can shot from the same cylinder (with a full 200bar cylinder, it is around 150 shots).
