U.S. Shooters Claim Gold and Silver
RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (July 18, 2007) - The U.S. Shooting Team added to its hardware collection by claiming a gold and silver medal in the Men's Double Trap event of the Pan American Games today. The Team has accumulated 13 medals including six gold since the start of competition on July 15.
Josh Richmond (Hillsgrove, Pa.) took the top spot on the podium with a point total of 185 while teammate and 2003 champion Jeff Holguin (Yorba Linda, Calif.) grabbed the second place position with 180 total points.
Both are members of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU).
"It feels good," Richmond said of his first Pan Am victory. "I got what I what I came down here for and this was a great warm up for next year."
The Men's Double Trap was the only finals event taking place at the Deodoro Sports Complex today. Tomorrow's schedule will be highlighted by the Women's Skeet Final, the Men's 50 Meter Rifle Three Position and the Men's 25 Meter Rapid Fire Pistol events.
