This should solve a major headache for Aussie shooters in getting guns, paarts and repairs done overseas.

"Firearms Prohibition Lifted

14 February 2007

Australia Post has decided to lift the prohibition on the acceptance of firearms and firearms parts in the international mail. This action has been taken based on detailed legal opinion received through the Australian Government Solicitor.

The prohibition on items of weaponry, including firearms and firearm parts, in international mail had been in place since January 2006.

Australia Post is reviewing the processes required to give effect to this decision. "

Common sense used in a govt dept, amazing.
I did note that it refers to 'International' mail. I suppose that doesn't include internal Australian mail, so there could still be the problem of getting parts from a dealer in Australia.

That change of policy took a lot of work in the background!

The ban only applied to international mail.
