Best pellet for Avanti 853CM?

Post by SporterNoob »

I've read my stuff... done my homework... and I'm gonna get into 10m sporter to get away from the informal 70-yard hunting style tournaments me and my buddies have. Basically we set lots and lots of targets up in the section of land one of us has and go through unknown distance target engagements, windage, what basically amounts to sniping with an airgun. I use an RWS 48, and there's 4 of those, but there's a 54 and even a Gamo, all scoped, etc. 10m's a little dif so thats why i'm asking.

So I'm gonna get an 853CM, atleast that's what I think I'm gonna get after reading about it and reading the 10m rulebook (you're welcome to steer me differently), but out of the box what would you say is the best pellet for it? I have used some match pellets in some of my tourneys like I've used H&N Match Kugeln and RWS R-10s... they did pretty well in my .177, but... What do you guys like?
I was thinkin Avanti Diablos... But... different barrel twists and grooves like different things. Is there a standard this gun likes more than others? I don't plan on going past 25 yards in my back yard even informally, and strictly 10m in competition.

Thanks.

Try a few different ones off a rest. For most of us casual shooters, match grade pellets won't buy us much if anything. At 10m I have not found a bad pellet yet.

I use Vogel Sport.

If you compete, then you might look into match grade pellets. In my case I shot Vogel Sport in competition as well.

Depends what you call a bad pellet.

I tested a FWB P70 Jr. last week for a shooter. With the cheaper store brand pellets 10 shot groups were a single hole that was almost 2 pellets wide. With R10 4.51 pellets 10 shot groups were barely bigger than a single pellet.

Only way to find what pellet is really best in your gun is to test them.
