U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, Accessions Support Brigade

FORT BENNING, Ga. – Soldiers of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit have scored some major victories recently. The following results are some of their accomplishments:

USA Shooting Champion of Champions Match, Fort Benning, Ga., Sept. 21 to 27 – USAMU international rifle shooter Spc. Michael D. McPhail won the Gold Medal in the Free Rifle Prone Championship and the Bronze Medal in the Three Position Free Rifle Championship. Sgt 1st Class Jason A. Parker took the Silver Medal in both the Three Position Free Rifle Championship and the Men’s Air Rifle Championship. Sgt. 1st Class Daryl L. Szarenski won the Gold Medal in the Air Pistol Championship and Sgt. 1st Class Thomas A. Rose got the Bronze Medal; Szarenski also received the Bronze Medal in the Free Pistol Championship. Staff Sgt. John C. Ennis received the Silver Medal in the Rapid Fire Pistol Championship and Spc. Nicole M. Allaire took the Bronze Medal in the Women’s Air Rifle Championship.
International Rifle Interservice Championships, Fort Benning, Ga., Sept. 21 to 27 – USAMU international rifle shooter Spc. Michael D. McPhail won the Free Rifle Prone Interservice Championship and Sgt 1st Class Jason A. Parker won the Three Position Free Rifle Interservice Championship. Sgt. 1st Class Daryl L. Szarenski won the Air Pistol Interservice Championship and Staff Sgt. John C. Ennis won the Rapid Fire Pistol Interservice Championship. Spc. Kelly A. Dove won the Three Position Sport Rifle Interservice Championship and Spc. Nicole M. Allaire won the Air Rifle Interservice Championship.
U.S. Practical Shooting Association National Championships, York, Pa., Sept. 11 to 17 – USAMU action shooter Staff Sgt. Maxient J. Michel won the Limited-10 Division National Championship.
Spirit of America U.S. Palma Team Final Selection Match, Raton, N.M., Sept. 6 to 17 – USAMU service rifle shooter Sgt. 1st Class Norman L. Anderson won the match and was selected to the U.S. Palma Team; Spc. Tyrel L. Cooper also made the team and Staff Sgt. Emil Praslick III was named as the team coach.
(Formed in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to raise the standards of marksmanship throughout the U.S. Army, the Army Marksmanship Unit is assigned to the Accessions Support Brigade of the U.S. Army Accessions Command. The Marksmanship Unit trains its Soldiers to win competitions and enhances combat readiness through train-the-trainer clinics, research and development.
