SDM Military Rifle Instructor Training. 52 new CMP Military Rifle Instructors were recently trained by the U. S. Army Marksmanship Unit Service Rifle Team to prepare them to support USAMU Squad Designated Marksmen Instructor Training Courses taught by USAMU instructors. The training, which included both classroom and range firing exercises with SDM rifles, took place at Camp Perry, Ohio on 15-17 August. The members of this original group of instructors, who were trained in August 2005, and the new Military Rifle Instructors who were just trained will now be scheduled to support USAMU SDM Instructor Courses that will take place at various military installations throughout the next fiscal year.
2007 National Matches and Camp Perry Centennial. Competitors who want to start planning for the 2007 National Matches will find the 2007 National Match calendar posted on the CMP web site at http://www.odcmp.com/NationalMatches.htm. The CMP does not anticipate that there will be any changes in these published dates prior to the 2007 National Matches so competitors who need to plan their 2007 schedules and vacations far in advance should be able to use these dates to make 2007 plans. Competitors who are thinking about attending the 2007 National Matches should also note that next year marks the 100th anniversary of the first National Matches that were held at Camp Perry. The CMP on-line entry system is expected to open by mid-March to take 2007 National Matches entries.
