training videos/books for sport pistol?

Post by Salli »

Hi, I'm new to the forum. My question has probably been covered before but I can't seem to find any info in the archive.
I would like to get started with women's sport pistol and air pistol. Rather than thrash around trying to figure out proper technique and the course of fire on my own as I did with bullseye, I would like to get some good training materials like books and/or videos (non-English okay).
Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Books and Video

Elfe Stauch wrote a book (Sportliches PistolenschieBen: Luft- und Sportpistole) in German. I picked it up at the Munich World Cup. As yet, I am to translate part of it, but eventually...

Hans Stadl's "Pistol Shooting as a Sport" (Translation by Anita Pennington. London: Kaye and Ward, 1979.) is pretty good and has a section on Duelling, or Rapidfire, as it is currently called. This book can sometimes be found on eBay (where I got my copy.)

I'd recommend getting ahold of Dr. Laslo Antal's "Competitive Pistol Shooting" (West Yorkshire: EP Publishing Ltd., 1983.) Again, on eBay, it is a great read.

With regards to video, I have some posted at http://www.targetshooting.ca/theatre.htm but not much in duelling. I have some recently on tape, which I need to upload. Urgh.

Let me know what you're looking for and I can always find something.

Best regards.
