Dieter Anschutz is turning 75

Post by pilkguns »

Dieter Anschütz, CEO of the Ulm hunting and competition gun manufacturer J.G. Anschütz, is celebrating his 75th birthday. He was born on April 22, 1930,in Zella-Mehlis, Thuringia, the seat of the Anschütz Germania arms factory, which was founded in 1856. Thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of his father Max and his uncle Rudolph, the company resettled in Ulm, and Dieter Anschütz, after completing engineering studies and an exended practicum in Germany and the United States, took over the firm .

His company duties did not, however, tie him to his desk: In 1960 he
provided gunsmithing service for the Olympics in Rome, first with a load of
spare parts, later with his own service team. In 1976 he fought for the
changeover from the large caliber biathlon to the KK-caliber, which helped
to promte the current popularity of the Winter Duel. At present, eighty
to ninety percent of all Biathletes shoot with an Anschütz small caliber
gun, most of them with the straight-pull action of Peter Fortner. In spite
of the fact that Dieter Anschütz has shared management with his son Jochen since 1992, his life continues to be structured by daily business at the office and many trips abroad in the interests of the firm.

Congratulations and best wishes!
