Good rumor at this years USAS Nationals is that 2007 will again be held at Fort Benning, possibly a week later than this year. If you liked this years one week schedule, you might want to email Wanda Jewel and let her know. At the annual meeting of the membership, the pistol shooters mostly prefered this schedule (one week) to the two week schedule used in previous years.
Rifle shooters tend to prefer the longer schedule. Rumor has it that the parents of rifle shooters prefer the shorter one week schedule (guess who pays!).
Anyway, it is certainly worth sending your input.

Also note that it wasn't the compression of the schedule per se that made for some long days for the rifle shooters . . . it's a scheduling issue in terms of deconflicting ranges over the total time available. Perhaps the heuristics used in the past for the longer total time period aren't as "bettermal" (as opposed to "optimal") for the short period as the long period.
Maybe shooting center-standard-rapid-air-free for pistol (or some "outside the box" variant) would free up ranges for shorter days for rifle shooters.
Heck, more firing points would do it too . . . =8^)
