co 2 /compresed air whats the diffrence between the two?
what is the diffrence between co2 and compressed air from a air compresser ? Can you fill Avanti 888 from air compresser or do you need to use only co2 bulk air tanks, or is this just a portable charging tank.any information you might have about the two I wood gladly accept ,contact me at jlroemelin@msn.com
The 888 is >>ONLY<< a CO2 gun. Do not try and fill the tanks with air as they are not rated for that type of pressure. CO2 in it's pressurized state in the cylinder is mostly liquid, while air, even in a scuba tank is gas, but at a MUCH higher pressure.
If you are looking at sporter 3-P, the the 888 with CO2 is the way to go.
(I suppose I should add "In My Opinion" to that statement)
The Avanti XS-40 (CZ S200) will no longer be considered a sporter. (Older guns will be grandfathered)
I use a 20 pound bulk CO2 tank to fill my club 888 cylinders. I support 12 guns and this lasts me about 3 months.
I use a SCUBA tank to support the 3 XS-40's that we shoot.
While I'll admit that the compressed air is easier to fill, it is not all that much more involved to fill the CO2 tanks. PILKGUNS has great articles that tell how to do these safely.

co2 vs.compressed air
thank you, for information it is a big help. i guess i will have to get a tank .
I found that here in New Mexico, the minimum charge to fill any "paintball" cylinder (they consider an 888 cylinder one of these) is about $5.
I have a 20 lb tank that I got from our gas supplier for $100 filled. It only costs me $18 every three months to refill it.
Note also ... if you get a bulk tank, get one that has a "dip-tube" or syphon tube to pull the liquid from the bottom of the tank.
