MUNICH, Germany – Sgt. First Class Tom Tamas, of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU), clinched the bronze medal in men’s 50m prone, today, at the World Cup Munich. Tamas went into the final round in eighth place, and hit a 104.9 in the final 10 shots to make a huge come-from-behind rally and secure a place on the medal stand for the U.S.
Sergei Martynov, of Belarus, won the gold in this event, with a 700.5. Mario Knoegler, of Austria, took silver with a 700.1, whereas Tamas finished with a 698.9 for the bronze. This medal is Tamas’ second one of the season in men’s prone. He took the silver at the first World Cup of the season, in Korea.
The 50m free pistol event wrapped up today, as well, with John Ennis, also of the USAMU, finishing in 14th with a 558. Ennis was the highest finisher for the U.S. in this event.
