Over the past year the arthritis in my knees has started to cause me difficulties in the kneeling position. I now find that I can’t bend my right knee enough to be able to sit on my right heel.
During the winter I experimented with a 3” diameter, 1” thick disk of polystyrene between my buttock and the heel of my boot. After 30 minutes painful shooting the “spacer” has compressed by half but mindful of this being an illegal support I just can’t manage without even this small ½”pad.
Is there a bone doctor out there who can advise of any exercise that can loosen my knee or is it the attempts to continue kneeling shooting that is causing the pain and swelling in the first place.

Baseball catchers use a pad called a "KneeSaver" since they spend so much of their time kneeling (squatting?). If allowed by the rules, I think this might help you. http://www.alimed.com/ProductDetail.asp ... SKU=757070 has the gardener's version. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/produ ... Id=1848468 has the baseball version.
Otherwise, any good orthopedist will evaluate you and prescribe physical therapy that should help.

Joe
