Stock refinishing

Post by rods »

Is there any good way to refinish the stock on a target rifle which has the 'stippling', without losing the stippled areas?
Any good ideas are appreciated!
Thanks

Cover the stippled areas with tape. Then sand away (or otherwise remove) the varnish. Do be carefull at the edges!

Use an old toothbrush in the stippled areas when stripping the old finish. You may need more than 1 brush as the stripper may eat the brush in time.
To touch up or even redo the stippled areas, I use a small round burr (1/8 or smaller) in a dremel tool. I've had excellent results.
