In Memoriam--Bill W. “Dutch” Weltz. All of us associated with the administration of the National Matches mourn the death, on 23 December, of Dutch Weltz at the age of 88. Weltz retired from the Ohio National Guard in 1975 as a Command Sergeant Major. He worked as a volunteer National Matches official at Camp Perry until he was 86. During the National Matches, he managed the post theater that was used for Small Arms Firing School instruction and NRA and CMP award ceremonies.

In Memoriam--Donald C. Nygord. One of the great pistol shooters of the past 30 years passed away on 26 December. Don was a member of the USA Shooting Team that represented the USA in international competitions all over the world for 22 years. He was a 16-time National Champion, a member of the 1984 and 1988 USA Olympic Teams and won an individual air pistol World Championship in 1981. He managed a successful shooting equipment supply business, Nygord Precision Products, Inc., for many years. Nygord earned the Distinguished Pistol Shot Badge in 1966 and the Distinguished International Shooters Badge in 1979.

Don Nygord was a member of the USA National Team for 22 years. Among his many international medals was a silver medal in the air pistol team event that he helped this USA team win during the 1982 World Championship. Team members (l. to r.) were Darius Young, Erich Buljung, Nygord and Jimmie McCoy.

In Memoriam—Anna Bovia. Anna L. Bovia, 75, of Lacarne, Ohio passed away on 3 January. Ms. Bovia was the author of three books about the history of Camp Perry: Camp Perry 1906 – 1991, Camp Perry Revisited 1905 - 1996 and Camp Perry Training Site 1904 - 2004. Ms. Bovia was also active in the dedication of the Bataan Armory in 1984, an event that spurred her to write her books on Camp Perry. She was a charter member of the Friends of Camp Perry as well as an active member of the Port Clinton community. She was a retired civilian federal employee having worked for the Ohio Adjutant General in the Combined Support Maintenance Shop of the Ohio National Guard at Camp Perry. Ms. Bovia was a familiar face to us all here; she and her knowledge of Camp Perry’s past will be missed.

Camp Perry historian Anna Bovia researched, wrote and published three histories of Camp Perry.

AR-15 Competition Rifle Sales. The CMP AR-15 Competition Rifle Sales Program has met its objectives and is being discontinued. The CMP expresses its sincere thanks to Bushmaster and Compass Lake Engineering for their strong support of this program. This has been a '"clubs only" program for the past four years, that is, all rifle orders had to be submitted by or through CMP affiliated clubs or state associations. However, in order to deplete the remaining inventory as quickly as possible, sales are now open to all members of CMP affiliated organizations. Customers may order directly from the CMP without getting their club's approval. Procedures are slightly different than for ordering military surplus items from the CMP. Quantities are very limited. Please see http://www.odcmp.com/Rifles/misc.htm for additional information.

MCJROTC Air Rifle Postal. The deadline for the Marine Corps JROTC Air Rifle Postal Competition, 1st Round targets, is approaching fast. The first set of targets and unit firing reports are to be postmarked not later than 14 Jan 05 and mailed to the CMP for scoring. The scores will then be posted on the CMP web site at http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/report_m ... ?matchID=2 and first round results will become final on 31 Jan 05. If you have any questions, please contact the CMP Competitions Dept at jrotc@odcmp.com.

· AR-15 Type 965 80%

· M16 116 10%

· M1A 66 5%

· M14 17 1%
