Spalding County 4H Presents

1992 Olympic Silver Medalist Bob Foth

Coaches Clinic and Three Position Rifle Clinic

Coaches & Shooters:

Bob's favorite clinics involve working with both the coaches and shooters. These have been very successful all over the U.S. They are designed to help coaches and shooters work together effectively. Frequent alternation between 15 classes and 10 shooting sessions breaks both into manageable units. Each shooting session has a specific goal related to the previous class(es). Topics include: Positions, Portfolios (diaries), Shot Plans (mental programs), Sights, Physical Training and Nutrition, Shot Calling, Shot Fundamentals, Mental Training, Competitions, Goal Setting and Training Plans.

Each participant receives a shooting portfolio with class notes and various other tools.

This clinic is the perfect complement to the NRA/USAS/CMP Coach Certification School.

Shooters and coaches are not restricted to certain ages, but should be old enough to concentrate on the sport for a whole weekend. See Scott Pilkington’s 02/02/04 posting on TargetTalk for photos.

One parent/coach wrote, “I’m still hearing good comments about your clinic last October! _______ recently fired a 583 in a 3-P Air Match. He’s been using his notebook a lot and it’s really helping. It’s amazing to see a 12 year old actually doing this!”

Athlete / Coach Team Development Program

Athlete / Coach Team Development Program
The Spalding County 4-H will host (2), rifle “Athlete / Coach Team” development courses over 5 ½ days, beginning on July 10 at the Spalding County Shooting Sports Building, 1120 Cain Lane, Griffin GA, 30224. The program will be presented by Bob Foth, 1992 Olympic Medalist, member of the National Coach Development Staff and will be delivered in two distinct blocks of instruction. They include :

Coach’s Clinic July 10-11 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Athlete / Coach Clinic July 13-15 8 a.m. to 5p.m.
July 16 8 a.m. to 12:00

The first two days of the program are the NRA/USAS/CMP Coach Certification Course and are designed to develop a coach's ability to train athletes in the disciplines of smallbore and air rifle shooting. Topics include Sports History, Rules & Ethics, Equipment and Facilities, Coaching Methods, Shooting Positions, Mental Training, Training Programs and Planning and Risk Management.

“With the high interest in the riflery programs in high schools all across Georgia, interested shooters and coaches are seeking training,” said Foth. “This course will provide training needed to reach the ’Appointed’ level for rifle coaching. Additional training is required to reach the certified level.”

The second phase is designed to afford coaches the opportunity to bond with their athlete … as a Team. Practical application of the principles of coaching, techniques, correcting position problems, training, and conditioning, learned in the Coach’s Clinic, will assist in the preparation of your athlete.

Shooters:

Please bring everything you will need to shoot two 3 x 20 matches and for 3.5 days of practice.

The fee for the course is:

Coach’s Clinic $195.00 per person

Athlete / Coach Clinic $175.00 per person; maximum of 3

Athletes per coach (Coaches may bring 4 Athletes if the

coach is classified “Appointed” or higher.

(Coaches choosing to enroll in both phases of instruction receive discounts of $10.00 for themselves and each athlete they bring)

This includes all course materials, meals and refreshments. The Coach’s Clinic also includes a copy of “Ways of the Rifle,” the best training book currently available and sells for approximately $45.00.

The Coach’s Clinic is a cooperative effort of the three major competitive shooting organizations in the United States, the NRA, USA Shooting and the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). The NRA is the governing body for many domestic shooting sports programs and administers the Coach Program. USA Shooting is the National Governing Body (NGB) for the Olympic and international shooting sports in the United States. The CMP is a federally chartered not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to train U.S. citizens in marksmanship and firearm safety with a particular emphasis on youth.
