Air Pistol Matches?

Post by kbean »

I have a 13 year old that wants to shoot some air pistol. Where should I look for matches? I don't see much on CMP. Are there some big annual matches I should be looking for?
Thanks!

The CMP has "monthly" matches at the Anniston and Camp Perry locations: https://thecmp.org/ranges/cmp-competiti ... l-matches/

There is also the Camp Perry Open (May) and Air Gun Nationals (July) and Dixie Doubles (November) held by the CMP.

You can use their tracker for Air Pistol Matches, there will be more showing up soon as they just added the Air Pistol filter. https://ct.thecmp.org/app/v1/index.php

USA Shooting just had Pistol Nationals but there is also monthly matches out at the training center held by the shooting club there. You can look up events on their website. They just changed systems to give it a little for people to add matches. Mostly events from Team Shooting Stars in TX on there now. https://ems.usashooting.org/event_list

You can reach out to the folks at SASP. They have been doing great work on many shooting disciplines and helping to grow the international side.

Where are you located? There may be some clubs that hold smaller matches near you.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for the great reply, this is very helpful!

I’m East of Houston, and haven’t been able to find anything close. Maybe things will start to show up on the databases you linked.

Dallas Pistol Club: https://www.teamshootingstars.org/

They have quite a few events, I haven't gotten out that way but hope to soon.

Also Texas A&M's pistol team holds an event once or twice a year for the public. I went in the spring and it was really good.

Hope that helps!

This did help, thank you very much!
We’re a little over five hours from the Carrollton range (per google), but College Station is more manageable.

Anyone can attend the WAG, Winter AirGun match that was held in Anniston at the CMP range last December. It is a great event to shoot with Olympians (Alexix Lagan, Sandra Uptagraph, James Hall, Hunter Battag) and get high level competition experience.
The air pistol, sport pistol and Rapid Fire Nationals just happened about two weeks ago at the Olympic Training Center.
Texas A&M has two shooting teams; the air pistol team is coached by Linda Libaski. They offer several matches that are open to the public. She might have contacts for someone in your area.
Also check with the Facebook group "U.S.A. international Pistol Competition" with questions.

How about siordian1's matches here on TT? Unlimited shooting, plus some high scoring competitors.

Did I mention free?

I am a bullseye shooter that dabbles some in airguns, NE Houston.

Also don't forget about the postal matches, on Discord a few of the USA Shooting team members are participating and promoting it on the app https://discord.gg/MSxjCunx

CMP also does a quarterly postal airgun match, ACES.

Jan 21 PTO in Dallas at Team Shooting Stars:
https://www.teamshootingstars.org/calen ... ?event=336

Jan 22 is a 2700 Bullseye match at Bayou Rifles Addicks range

Feb 4/5 is the College Station A&M SAM BAIOCCO MEMORIAL INTERNATIONAL INDOOR PISTOL TOURNAMENT

Alternate Thought guy here

Just for giggles, look at the NRAs website under Marksmanship Qualification. You might find their Air Pistol and International Air Pistol programs interesting.

Didn't we used to have "postal matches" on here. I've been away for a few years.

In the Phoenix, AZ area there is an indoor 10 Meter to 50 foot 24 position range which is air conditioned and heated. They shoot every week. They also shoot outdoor airgun matches
Look at rsscaz.com for details. Rio Salado Sportsman's Club, a fantastic facility at equally fantastic club.
