Help assembling/mounting Walther GSP rear sight
Hi,
Got a GSP year’s ago with a red dot and the rear sight in a zip lock bag. Want to shoot it with iron sights now. Need help getting rear sight in correctly!
I did what made sense and put the various parts in the order of the exploded diagrams I can find online.
But it isn’t coming out right. Or should I say left - the sight body is over hanging the left side of the frame a good 5mm more than the right side.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jab

Re: Help assembling/mounting Walther GSP rear sight
There should be two posts sticking out of the back. slide (clip) the rear sight blade into these posts. Then it should be in the middle . To change the width of the rear sight just replace this blade with the proper size.

Re: Help assembling/mounting Walther GSP rear sight
As the picture illustrates, to centralise the rear sight blade just tap it from the side to position it centrally. The slots are made for this purpose and you can’t move it beyond centre.
Re: Help assembling/mounting Walther GSP rear sight
Thanks folks,
It wasn’t the blade but the whole sight body.
I had the spring wrong.
Cheers,
Jab

and the spring is not ruined?
Re: Help assembling/mounting Walther GSP rear sight
Seems to be working. Sight body is centered. Moves with clicks left and right.
Didn’t put a kink in it. Just uselessly put it between the body and screw, not inside the sight body Against the right side of the frame.

Re: Help assembling/mounting Walther GSP rear sight
hi
i recently acquired a very old Walther GSP (from 1976). it came with some spare rear sight blades.. and i;d like to change it.
however, the mounting system is different from the one presented here.
anyone know how to remove the currently installed sight blade? (i have not found a manual version so old that it matches my pistol)

Re: Help assembling/mounting Walther GSP rear sight
The old site blades slid off to the side.
I'm not sure whether the newer blades will fit on the old pins.

Re: Help assembling/mounting Walther GSP rear sight
these ones are even older. they seem to go in from above. the installed one and the replacement use the same system.David Levene wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 6:00 am The old site blades slid off to the side.

however, getting the currently installed one off by pulling up at the corners, does not seem to work

Re: Help assembling/mounting Walther GSP rear sight
Greetings,
Walther used to supply a Multi-Tool for removing the rear sight blades and adjusting the sight screws.
With the old style you put the Multi-Tool underneath the replaceable blade and levered them upward.
The old and new style rear blades are interchangeable.
Cheers,
Dave

Greetings,
Yes, that is the "Special Key".
Support the main housing as much as possible to prevent twisting it.

Greetings,
Yes, I have the whole manual as quoted in my post.
There are several sources for on-line downloads of newer manuals.
I 'think' some are available that discuss the single stage triggers.
Here is a link to some Walther Downloads...

Re: Help assembling/mounting Walther GSP rear sight
none of the manuals at that link include the part you showed, or other parts specific to the old models.
if it's in electronic format, can you upload it somewhere and post the link here?
thank you

Re: Help assembling/mounting Walther GSP rear sight
Greetings,
I would telephone or email Walther and ask if any old manuals exist. They may have one in a drawer somewhere.
Or, they may have archived it as a PDF.
Manual "1273.20.3 217 21 51"
My manual came with the pistol many years ago.
Cheers,
Dave
