My broken 46m pumping lever welded back by my welder friend is holding up well. Probably as good as new. 2000 shots so far. Feel good.
But the DEVIL in me wants to make it stronger.

This guy is my type of bush wack mechanical engineer.
JB Weld Steel tensile/compression/ plugging strength looks excellent, dollar cost wise.
So, will put two thin steel plates on either side, reinforce with JW Steel putty.
Should be stronger than OEM.

If it was welded by a competent welder the effect of adding JB Weld will be negligible. I wouldn't bother but if it makes you feel better...

Do you have Young’s Modulus or Modulus of Elasticity of JB Weld? I spent several minutes to try finding it, but couldn't. I guess it is more or less 500,000 psi(= 3.45GPa). While, Young's Modulus of steel is 200GPa which means steel is 200/3.45 times rigid than epoxy. As Green_Canoe answered, the effect is negligible so far as the cross section of the reinforcing part made of the JB Weld is same as the original lever.
For your info, carbon fiber's Young's Modulus is 180GPa. A thick layers of carbon fiber may do the job. If you have any CAD software which have FEM analysis within you reach, I would suggest you some simulations on it.
