Recommendations for Lubing Threads on a Morini PCP Cylinder
I Googled recommendations for lubing the threads on a PCP cylinder for a Morini air pistol and came up with various mixed pro/con findings. Morini instructions are silent on the matter as are Steyr. It seems to me that an occasional very small amount of oil on the threads of the brass filling adapter might help the threading process into both the adapter and the gun itself, and overall prolong the life cycle of PCP cylinders. Looking for thoughts and advice on this matter.

Use a non petroleum based grease.
Silicone or lanolin based on the threads only.
Most dive shops stock tubes of suitable grease.

We use Super lube. Scott Pilkington wrote a great article on this, years ago-

I ordered the Super lube Silicone Lubricating Compound with Syncolon (PTFE) #92003, which is the one that is recommended above.

Re: Recommendations for Lubing Threads on a Morini PCP Cylinder
How often do you apply lube to the cylinder threads and how much?
The article recommends after 20-30 times the cylinder is changed and just a “smidgeon” – the size of a pin head. At each install you should be sure there is some grease. The manufacture (FWB) also says to check the cylinder for grease before reinstalling – otherwise grease slightly. Whatever slightly means.
Easier said than done. The manufacturers grease I use is clear and seeing such a small amount applied so infrequently is a bit of guess work. At least to me.
What do you do?
Thanks

Things should thread on & off smoothly. At the slightest hint of drag or roughness, I clean the threads & relubricate.
Re: Recommendations for Lubing Threads on a Morini PCP Cylinder
The threads that mount the tube to the gun do not contact any O-rings, so I doubt you need an O-ring safe lube for that. The O-ring is in the nipple recess that intrudes into the cylinder (on a Morini; don't know about other manufacturers.)
