MONTHLY AP LEAGUE JAN. 2020
Ok, lets get the New Year off to a good start.
My goal for the year? , get above 550 and stay there. How about you?
You know the drill, shoot as often as you like, post your scores and how you shot, the good the bad and the ugly.
Thanks

Suis HS-10 target at 10m
My scores this month and last were only 1 point off, but truth be told I had dipped down about 15 points for the last few weeks. I had to work hard to diagnose what was going wrong, making heavy use of SCATT. It seems I was struggling with the normal culprits either separately, or both at the same time:
1. Not focusing consistently on the front sight, but rather on the target (even if just for a split second) resulting in misaligned sights. Scatt would often show me a trace that was not centered on the middle of the target for the last 1 second or so (yellow portion of the trace is <=1 second, blue is<=250ms).
Poor sight alignment (Front sight too high): 2. Not trusting my hold, meaning that I even though I may have had my focus squarely on my front sight perfectly aligned in the rear sight, my subconscious was still seeing the target moving around and I was chasing it, resulting in poor trigger control. Scatt would show me trace centered on the middle of the target, but with a sudden jerk out into the 7 or 8 ring in the last 250ms(blue line). I had to re-train myself to get my sights aligned down in the aiming area and start smoothly pressing the trigger in order to get a surprise break, despite the normal wobble. This is counter-intuitive, but it sure does seem to work.
Poor trigger control: Both (front sight low and right, plus jerked trigger): This shot is a good demonstration of how trusting your hold works. Here I was all the way out into the 8-ring within the last second and my brain and eye certainly noticed, but I stayed focused on the front sight, smoothly pressing the trigger and trusting the hold, resulting in a nice shot despite that wobbling. My screen shots look different than normal Scatt because I am using a program called ShotAnalyzer that combines the output from Scatt with the output from my electronic target. The advantage is that the "ball of yarn" is automatically moved to the true location of the shot.

Re: MONTHLY AP LEAGUE JAN. 2021
Ok, I was off by a year, who's counting??
Rover would be proud. I was going to shot my usual afternoon match. I got off 10 shots when my tank ran out. I left the adapter at the range, crap. I was going to just dry fire then I remembered,
I HAVE A PARDINI K58!!
I dug that old pistol out and started shooting, first 20 shots were crap, but then it got better.
I shot 6, 10 shot cards, one with 6, tens, another with 5 tens. overall score of 538. Not bad for a pistol I have not shot in 2 years.

I just started modifying my grip a bit. It’s more comfortable and seems more steady, so now I think I need to start playing with weight and balance.
