Post by USA Shooting »

USA Shooting announces the cancellation of Rifle/Pistol Nationals, Rifle/Pistol Junior Olympic Competitions, and Progressive Position Pistol (PPP) Nationals for the year 2020.

The decision is due to renewed travel restrictions in many states, impacting the competitor's right to compete in those team selection events.

State Junior Olympic Qualifiers for the 2021 Junior Olympic Nationals will be conducted as usual. The window for those Junior Olympic Qualifiers may be extended as we are looking at alternate venue options for the 2021 National Competitions.

The organization is currently investigating locations and proposed dates for 2021, including working with affiliated shooting programs. Host Site applications and State Junior Olympics 2021 information will be coming soon, with the hope of being able to run a full state championship competition in every state as have happened in years past. When invite details and dates are finalized, USAS will send out an email to all members and post those details to social media.

Unfortunately, USA Shooting will not be able to honor 2020 qualifications at next year’s match.

USAS strives for the highest standard of promoting a fair-play environment. These competitions serve as the National Team and National Junior Team selection, and those selected could represent the United States Shooting Team at future international competitions. USAS strongly believes that given the current COVID-19 landscape, this would not be a fair-play environment to host these matches.

USA Shooting is continuing to sanction state and local events. USA Shooting recommends clubs follow specific guidelines from their individual state’s governor and the CDC.

Thank you to our community for your continued patience and unwavering support. We look forward to a time when we can safely practice and compete together in our great sport of shooting.
