BSB brown sugar bourbon over ice
Re: Ice or no ice in your Bourbon?
Depends on the bourbon. If ice, then single rock, from limestone water from Kentucky. You can find bottles online.

Old Grand Dad - Bonded or not at all. Neat, and don't hold your breath waiting for an invite.

I'm cheap, but picky, so I swill Evan Williams with one small cube. Best bang for the buck!
The water for the ice comes from the Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer.

Evan Williams is pretty good...especially when factoring price!! I always have a 1.75 in the cabinet. No ice for me in anything except margaritas! Maybe some H2O

As my Old Man once told me,
"If the bourbon is good the ice won't help,
If the bourbon is bad the ice won't help."

I went on a tour of a bourbon distillery. Afterwards, there was a tasting. The bartender let us taste some straight whiskey. Then, she put ONE drop of water in it. There was a DRAMATIC change in the taste! I couldn't believe it. Soooo, try it both ways and see which you like better. I like mine with two small ice cubes in it.

Went to a Scotch tasting at a Scottish Festival in Orange County, CA where they had some VERY high end samples. In every case, a small bit of water was mixed with the scotch. The experts claimed it reduced the alcohol burn and "opened up" the other flavors. I tend to agree.

I get a lot of single barrel and sometimes cask strength, hence my post. Sometimes a drop or two, or a cube really brings out the flavors.

Its made with Kentucky river water and that is what comes out my tap! I like lots of ice, made from KY river water.

A TINY bit of ice water to open it up and that is it. But thanks for bring this up. I think a wee dram of 20 year old Red Breast is about to be consumed.
