Purely out of curiosity. With competitors in 10M air pistol consistently scoring 550+, how many times on average will they abort a shot and reset?

How long is a bit of string, I do not reject nearly enough, this is this years big focus for me and it seems to be working, it is making that default cut off point stick and not over run by trying to improve that is so tough, I've set myself a limit of 3 seconds in the aim area. Before xmas I watched a lad on the monitor shooting in the detail after mine and he rejected about 50% of his attempts and when he went over his normal hold time things did not improve and I was by now saying in my head reject the shot, these could be a 9 or a 10 his "pure" aim and shoot shots were 10's. His final score was over 580.

Would a 3 to 5 second timer attached to the wrist/forearm be a legal aid?
I was thinking to build a little timer that engages when I lift my arm and vibrates at a 5s mark to remind me to abort.

"Support" on the shooting arm wrist is generally not allowed, but I don't think a timer should be your focus. Listen to your inner little bird, and let its chirping tell you when to abort.

Instead of a vibrating wrist bracelet, why not try a SHOCK COLLAR?

1. It's legal
2. Would definitely mitigate the negative behavior - very quickly!

Any timer can easily condition you to force shots off, which will do a number on your scores .

The solution is to train at getting your shots off smoothly & naturally in a reasonable amount of time. The better you get at a consistent delivery, the easier it will be to recognize when things aren't unfolding as they should, and you can abort that much sooner.
