Manurhin MR38 conversion to DA/SA
I would like to shoot an event that requires the pistol function in double action. Is there a way to convert from single action only to double action/single action. I see there are two different hammers for the MR73 available, will a MR73 part fit the MR38?
I don't want to ruin the pistol but I would like to shoot it in this event.
Thanks for any firsthand experiences.

To convert to SA/DA from SA only you will need
Hammer #125
Trigger #111 (you may be able to use the target trigger, but the smooth double action trigger is better).
you also may need the Cylinder Rotation Hand #137.01 to correct timing if your old hand is too short.

$$$$$$......
Re: Manurhin MR38 conversion to DA/SA
I have a MR 38 Match that is SA/DA but only shoot SA as I only shoot ISSF events, the DA is amazing, pity you are not close enough to exchange things,eh? John
Re: Manurhin MR38 conversion to DA/SA
Well after what I paid for the pistol a hammer change out will feel easy.
The thing is I don't plan on shooting it DA, its just that it has to have a functioning DA and SA. However, after going through all this to make it DA i might just shoot an event using DA.
I've never seen a pistol where when pulling the trigger the cylinder rotates with a double action pull but the hammer does not move to the rear. I hope only the hammer is needed.

With all due respect....why would you change a SA revolver to DA if you aren’t planning on using DA. ?
Re: Manurhin MR38 conversion to DA/SA
Because it has to pass tech inspection.

What Match are you planning to shoot that you don’t need double action, and single action 1000+ gram trigger won’t pass technical inspection?
Re: Manurhin MR38 conversion to DA/SA
Greetings Deadeyedick,
It is an American NRA match.
Either the "Distinguished Revolver" or "Harry Reeves" match.
The rules specify that the pistol must have a functioning double action.
Cheers,
Dave

Cheaper to just buy a S&W 686 and do a trigger job.

Hi RMinUT
If I recall correctly, doesn’t the Distinguished revolver prohibit an external trigger stop which the MR38 have?

It needs a judge input.....
"All revolvers shall use Double action on every stage except on 50 yards/meters were single action is allowed. It must be a factory manufactured revolver with no external modifications.
No external or internal modifications may be made to the revolver as manufactured and sold by the factory of origin.
Except as provided for below no parts may be removed from the revolver, either externally or internally, nor may any be added."
The trigger stop is factory fitted and is not listed as a part to be removed.
But later...
"The following are not allowed: trigger shoes; compensator; any external trigger stop device; use of any filler substance to make the front of the trigger smooth; filing or otherwise removing ridges on the trigger; filing or otherwise reducing the trigger width or length, tape on stocks, thumb rests or stocks flared at the base."
