Yes, the SAAMI specs are rather "generous". CIP drawings also add more variety into the ammunition and barrel/chamber specs.

Fortunately, one can buy a large quantity of brass from the same manufacturer.

I like Lapua as it seems very consistent over the years.

I have the resources to modify sizing dies to meet my loading needs. Lee Precision will make dies for those who do not have a Machine Shop at their disposal.

Now consider the variation in barrel diameters...

I have measured factory barrels that vary from 0.308" to 0.315" groove diameter.

This is one reason most commercial ammunition does not perform well as compared to carefully hand crafted reloads.
