Operating lever on pneumatic air pistol

Post by porkchop »

What is the proper way to operate the lever on a Feinwerkbau 65 at a 10 meter match? Can I use the outside of my leg or knee as long as I don't point end of barrel over any part of my body? Never been to a match yet and just like to know.
Thanks

Under ISSF rule 6.2.2.3:-

"While athletes are on their firing points, their guns must always be pointed in safe directions. The action or breech must not be closed until the gun is pointing downrange in a safe direction toward the target area."

Have owned my share of FWB 65s.
To "cock" the gun: Hold the gun to your chest, muzzle pointing forward. Grab the gun at the frame/barrel junction with your left hand. Grab the "operating lever" with your right hand, and pull towards you until you hear a "click". Then push the lever forward until it engages the catch.

When I first started shooting 10 metre AP
I was 12 and had a hard time cocking the lp65
Until someone showed me a trick
Hold the pistol with your right hand (if you're right handed)
Put the muzzle of barrel on the table(use something like a pad)
With your left hand cock the pistol
The table helps with leverage and keeps the pistol pointing in a safe direction

Thank you for the replies, and thank you David for the rule. I will have to find a rule book or try and download one somehow.
Thanks again, this is a fun sport and I absolutely love it. Now I'll have to find some anatomical type grips that have the adjustable palm shelf somewhere.

I used to do the "barrel against the table" thing.

Now (when I shoot the 65) I do similar to what Northpaw does: Bring the pistol in close, grab the end of the cocking lever, and simultaneously pull with the left hand while pushing with the right with decent thumb pressure. With a bit of practice, it gets easier.
