Remington 40X (smallbore) vs Warner sight

Can anyone tell me if a Warner side mounted sight will work on a Remington 40X short action (smallbore) rifle. It seems I've heard that the sight will fit on the side but that the windage may have to be way off to the side before it will be centered up. I'm concerned about spending the money and then finding out the sight won't work. Thanks in advance.

I have a Warner mount for a 40X, never been used. It is a .625, beautiful quality and fits the Warner rear sight perfect. Contact me if you're interested
