USA Shooting Announces Staffing Changes
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (March 1, 2018)
USA Shooting announced today a series of staffing changes within the National Office in Colorado Springs.
Pete Carson has been promoted to Director of Operations for USA Shooting. Carson transitions to even more of a leadership role from his previous position as High Performance Director for Logistics. As such, Carson will oversee Events, High Performance, Coaches and Youth Programs for the organization. Carson joined the USA Shooting staff as an Events Coordinator in 2011.
Penny Miller has also been hired as Financial Controller for USA Shooting. Miller has served as Chief Financial Officer for SRM USA and USA Field Hockey, as well as held several accountant positions. As Controller for USA Shooting, Miller’s job duties include overseeing all financial and accounting activities of the organization.
Miller replaces Karie Wright, who has worked for USA Shooting for 17 years.
Chuck Platt has been named as National Paralympic Coach. Platt was named an Assistant National Team Coach for Pistol in early 2016 and served as an assistant coach at the 2016 Paralympic Games. Prior to his promotion to National Paralympic Coach, Platt has also served as Team Leader and Assistant Coach at several Paralympic World Cups and Junior competitions. He has also played an important role as a coach for the National Training Center Juniors Program that has seen unprecedented success over the past few years.
After more than three years of volunteer work and part-time service to the organization, Platt was officially added to the USA Shooting staff in early 2017 as Range Manager. He will continue in this role in addition to the coaching post.
Armando Ayala, who had previously served as National Paralympic Coach, will continue to work with the team as an Assistant Coach.
USA Shooting will also bolster its staff by hiring for the roles of Manager of High Performance and Director of Coaching and Youth Programs. Sergey Luzov, who had previously held the post of High Performance Director, is no longer with USA Shooting. Michael Theimer will assist in this transition of the Director of Coaching and Youth Programs position and will support USA Shooting’s Coach Academy program, helping to provide training content and course development work for the Academy’s e-commerce and LMS systems.
“My executive vision is that our athletes, members, employees and the U.S. Olympic Committee believe that we are a great National Governing Body management team,” said Keith Enlow, USA Shooting Chief Executive Officer. “I firmly believe that these changes within the organization get us closer to that realization. I’m excited about the opportunities USA Shooting has ahead of us to help our athletes thrive and bring a culture of change that will leave a lasting impact on our sport.”
