Re: First 60 Shot Session - How'd I do? (New Sessions Added)
Well I shot my 3rd Session of 60 today. Raised another 11 points from the last set for a score of 532.
I adjusted my trigger slightly so it sets more natural. I am getting less pulled shots now. I shoot 10 shots per target. The first 5 shots are usually nice an centered, but the next 5 always open up a little for some reason, maybe I am rushing things.
How long does a set actually take you to shoot normally? I am shooting these in around 45 minutes for 60 shots. I might have to try to slow down a little.
My large grip should be here Wednesday or Thursday so that should help as well.
Here is the scorecard from today's session.

Cereal box cardboard is perfect. :-)Green_Canoe wrote:
I think I use the same cheap targets. I recommend you place a piece of cardboard behind the target. Use a new piece or section for each target. Won't make it perfect but it will help substantially.

Just put a fresh target over the old one. When that is fired on discard the rear target and put a fresh target on the "old" one.
If you're shooting 10 per target, your rear target will give you a good idea if you need a sight adjustment.

I ordered some Kruger targets, per the OP's rec. Wow! What a difference!! A clean hole for every shot. Why didn't I do this sooner. Not that expensive and the distributor is in OR so economy shipping to Seattle was two days. Thanks for the recommendation!ChipEck wrote:Cereal box cardboard is perfect. :-)Green_Canoe wrote:

I would say that 87% for your 2nd set of AP60 is doing quite well indeed.
And that with a grip that does not fit you.
Well done.
You should be able to crack 90% with the new grip that fits your hand + a bit of practice.

I fit in a half session today before it got too windy. Shot my first 95!
I slowed down for this session, taking about a shot per minute instead of the normal 3 per minute. This session was feeling pretty good, too bad I couldn't finish a whole 60.
I scored a 276/300.

And a quick shot of my new pistol and the 95/100 target.

Looking at your dispersion, time to click the sights up two or three notches.

Yeah, I'm still figuring out my best hold. I clicked the sight up a couple clicks yesterday. I need to adjust it up a little more yet.Houngan wrote:Looking at your dispersion, time to click the sights up two or three notches.

Re: First 60 Shot Session - How'd I do? (New Sessions Added)
Thanks guys.
My large grip came in last night. Today I installed the grip and shot a couple targets to get used to the new feel. I also had to adjust the trigger placement to fit right again.
I shot my 5th session and scored a 535, so 4 higher than the 4th session. It will take a while to get used to the pistol again since it now feels different. I am still getting a couple fliers on every card when I don't pul the trigger just right. I just need to practice more to get the trigger pull right every time.
I'll be shooting another session of 60 later today and hopefully I'll break 540.

I've been practicing 4 days a week or so for about an hour at a time.
Today after cleaning out the shop I shot another 60 shot session.
I broke the 540 line and scored a 549!
Now to get rid of those flyers.
I am going to go to the Olympic Training Center this Saturday to shoot my first match. Hope nerves don't get the best of me.

Hey Colorado CJ,
Here's some OLD SCHOOL TIPS I picked up from ROVER on increasing your standings at local competitions.
First, forget all this High-Tech stuff.
Second, put that crappy target paper on a photocopier, hit -ENLARGE-!!! Makes the 10-Ring A LOT easier to hit.
Third, take targets to your competitions - WITH THE HOLES ALREADY PUNCHED! Just slip those to the Judges, and hide the ones you actually shoot.

I'm definitely going to try that TargetScan app. How did your match go?

The Target Scan App is great! I might need to shoot 12 targets (5 shots per target) soon as I am making a lot of cloverleaf groups now and sometimes the App has a harder time scoring it (I just have to retake the picture to get the correct score).
As for the competition. I kinda choked. I scored a 502. This was my first shooting competition I've been to, and I've only started shooting 10 meter a little over 2 weeks ago, but it didn't go like practice.
My first 3 sets of 10 were pretty bad, like low 80's to upper 70's bad. I finally settled down and shot 89-90's for the last three sets.
I had a lot of fun though! Shooting electronic targets is a lot different than shooting paper targets. I need to set up a bright light on my paper targets to make it more comparable.

Klutz!!! Obviously you didn't follow Atomicgale's quite explicit instructions.
How the hell can you hope to improve when you can't follow simple directions.
