These are commonly referred to as 'bloop tubes' and are frequently used on smallbore Silhouette rifles.

I have used the cardboard box and egg crate foam to muffle a smallbore rifle, it worked well.

This thread has me thinking..

What if one were to create a tube made up of several concrete cone-shaped plant pots that have their bases cut out to replicate suppressor baffles? Perhaps find tires of appropriate size to fill the gaps between the pots.
