No question is foolish, answer can be.
CA stands for compressed air. In short : the gas that drives the pellet out of the barrel is released from a cylinder that holds air under a pressure of +/- 200 bar. Though the pressure that will push the pellet is only about 75 bar.

For my level of marksmanship I can't tell the difference between CO2 and CA pistols. First pistol was C55 nice pistol. Then crosman skanakers Then got manic on the FWB crankers 65,80,90 then a 102. I agree in a 60 shot match the crankers can get a little redundant. But they are deadly accurate. Finally went overboard and got a Morini 162m. Love all of them. But the bottom line is" its the gunner not the gun".

"its the gunner not the gun". How right you are!
Remember that the world record in AP was shot with a FWB mod 65 and it stood for a very long time. The ever shorter competition time favors the choice for a the precompressed gun.
But CA or not: keep enjoying your shooting!
