calling on all : walther SSP owners

I've got a couple of question for the SSP owners. (shooting with sights no scope)

1. Are you still happy with your pistol.
2. How many rounds did you already shot true it.
2c. How old is your pistol?
3. What kind of breakages did you have ?
3B. Did you replace some parts already?
3C. Do you have spare parts for it?
4. What kind of ammo do you use?
5. Is it reliable?
6. Are there versions of the pistol know to be un unreliable? (old versions,...)

My Walther SSP is about 3 years old, I have approx. 4000 rds. thru it. I shoot mostly SK Std+ and Eley Target. I have had no part failures, nor do I have any spare parts. It has been very reliable, has exceptional sights and a very good trigger. Ergonomics are one of the best (easy to shoot well), I also have Pardini, Morini and Matchguns. My only complaint is that the design is a bit complicated, hence it is tedious to clean. If you are not mechanically inclined, cleaning may be onerous.

I've got a aportunity to buy a MINT unique 96u with all the counter weights.
Maybe I grab that deal!

You may find spare parts for the 96u almost impossible to find. For this reason alone the Walther would be a better proposition.

I've had zero issues with my SSP. I love the factory grip so much I almost didn't get the Rink. It aims beautifully.

I shoot whatever ammo is available in Canada right now, mostly Eley.

You won't find too many replies because the Pardinis have taken over this aspect of the sport as well.

i have to agree with this comment on cleaning. Same goes for my MG2.

And I have a French dealer who claims who has all the parts for unique.
In Sweden I also found a dealer who has firingpins and the firingpin springs.

The down part is that the French dealer who I rang 2 x times (Thursday) and asked to handle it true email, hasn't responded on my mail. I would like to do it by mail because my French isn't good enough to walk true the details.

Question: The dealer is in the outskirt of Paris. Anybody wants to check the dealer out and do my shopping? ;)


I really don't know what to do... A toploader like the unique96u is really a outstanding pistol for the price.
But I need a source for ejectors!

Hi

1. I am very happy with my SSP, I do not regret buying it for a second.
2. I think I have done about 2000-2500 shots with it.
2c. My SSP is just one year old, I bought it new.
3. Nothing has really broken yet. I did have an issue with the trigger for a short while where it would occasionally feel tenacious but a friend had a look at it and saw that I had been cleaning it too dry so a little lubricant solved that.
3B. I have not replaced anything on it, not even the grip.
3C. I have no spare parts.
4. I use SK standard plus and sometimes SK pistol match. I tried using Top Shots once and will never do that again but that may just be my SSP.
5. It is reliable so far.

Ragarding the cleaning of the SSP that some other members brought up, I do not think it is a big issue but this is my first pistol and I have never cleaned any other pistol so I maybe if I had something to compare it with I would think otherwise but as it is now I think it is fine. Just remember to oil it up properly before assembling again. :D

I'm probably going to pass up on the unique 96U deal.
Owner was angry because I was disappointed the original box, testcard, screwdrivers where missing.
Well that's not mint in a box...

Even when I asked to check the gun he was angry. He said "you've shot the gun some weeks ago and that's enough.
Though I didn't checked the gun out, it wasn't for sale then, just shot it.
Great, but I don't buy a gun in confidence for €800 with no chance to fieldstrip the pistol.

Just get a Pardini... You'll never look back...

No need, I do not and have never owned one. I have just observed what has happened so often to those that shoot FAS. Ask yourself this, why has a pistol with one of the better ergonomic designs, been such a commercial failure?

Take rmca's advice and get a Pardini!

Sensible advice. All the FAS' I've seen, including my two FAS .22s go - bang, bang. bang, bang...

I also don't think Pardinis are the pinnacle of perfection as made out by some posters here.. Whilst the Pardinis I have had in the past have been ( except for the nasty electronic trigger models ) , I have seen plenty of others that have/are not.

Told by an old-timer here to avoid anything clip fed a-la Britarms, FAS, SSP.

The tubular magazine of the Matchguns MG-2 is kind of dodgy too.
