new guy with questions

Post by jerber »

Hello
Let me start with my story with pistol shooting
I am originally from France and moved to the USA in 1984
I used to shoot the 10 m air pistol(81-82-83)
I was pretty good at it
I won many trophy and I won the national in 1982
In 83 I got 4th place but that was due to a malfunction of my trigger(another story)
I could have first place!
So after that I quit(too many things going on in my life)
So fast forward about 30 years
I decided to get back into shooting
About 2-3 months ago I got myself a 22 lr pistol( ruger miii)
I did not want to spend too much money because I was not sure how serious I was about it
So far so good I do enjoy it and planning to invest in other pistol
So I have been experiment with some ammo
I have been using Eley target ( yellow box)
But the place I get the ammo from has limitations on how many boxes I can get
So I would like to know what ammo do you like to use and where do you get it from?
Also where do you get your targets?
Thanks Jerry

I get high quality targets from Kruger:

Dear Jerber:

I shoot a pardini sp bullseye in bullseye pistol competitions.

I like Wolf Match Target for ammo and usually get it from a number of suppliers:

Champion Shooters Supply
Champion Choice
SG Ammo
Graf and sons (good for low quantity orders)
Bruno shooters supply.

I usually purchase a case at a time and like to keep a good stock on hand. Some of the above suppliers have a notification system when ammo is coming in but others you need to check daily if you are needing ammo.

As for the targets, American Target company in Denver supplies lots of targets for a good price. While you can only order via phone ( I am not sure why, I think it is because with various quantity and target orders, they fit it in the box to see what the shipping is-Since I sometimes order a bunch of different targets and I can hear them trying different boxes to get them in while they are talking to me.)

Regards,
Cranky

The low-priced CCI Standard Velocity is decent and very popular in the U.S.

Thanks for the replies
I will look into it when I need to reorder

As for the CCI standard velocity I have tried them but I was getting a lots of problems
Fail to load/stove pipe/jams
I looked on line for reviews and got a lot of mix results

I find the CCI standard very close to the Eley Club!
