Re: Eight port compensator on LP10?
The noise will be the same.
The grouping will be the same.
The weight distribution will be the same.
All other things that I can't remember will be (probably) the same.
But...
It will look a lot better!
And a gun that looks better ALWAYS shoots better!
In other words it's pure bling, never the less I would never put the old one back into mine. ;)
Hope this helps

Re: Eight port compensator on LP10?
Yup. I figured it to be about like testing to see which pellet shoots best from the pistol. They all shoot better than I do. The gun shoots better than I do. Spending time trying to improve the gun's performance is just for fun, isn't it? The real improvement is to be made behind the gun.
But, I wondered if it might make it a bit quieter. The noise isn't a big deal. Just something I noticed.
Thanks.

I haven't notice any reduction in noise when I change mine.
Re: Eight port compensator on LP10?
According to an review in the german "Visier" mag (~2009/10) the older, square comp groups better, on the other hand the feel of the newer one should be better/different. but hey, its cheap, and there's even a video from steyr how to change the comp, so give it a try. other solutions would be the comp from maennel (difficult to get on the used market, as he seems out of business), the gehmann set, or you could install the comp from the lp2. and the lp10 stays loud as long as you don't turn it down (145-150m/s). in this case steyr says it's not working to the specs anymore... and tests have shown, that there's no improvement in fiddling with the factory settings
Re: Eight port compensator on LP10?
I fully stand with "rmca" regarding shooting or functional differences, but would also like to add that in my particular LP-10, the original four face ("squared") comp fell off twice due to its design and a loosening screw.
Changed it for the 8-nozzle new comp and noticed that it fits completely the round shape of the forward extension and never moved since I put it there.
To be sincere, I bought it for the looks thanks to a friend who went to a WC in Munich and bought it there, but THAT minimal difference exist and must be pointed out, though no score improvement was expected nor achived thanks to it.

Does it come with racing stripes? We all know how they enhance performance.

You're really pushing those racing stripes. Keep it up and I'm likely to do it and post pics just for fun. Then, I'll tell everyone it gained me ten points based on the Rover theory of micro weight adjustment and harmonic balance dampening.

why racing stripes? it's already a "silberpfeil". or do you think they skipped the black finish for nothing?
Re: Eight port compensator on LP10?
If you do, everyone will want it. They have already bitten deeply into the fruit of delusion thinking they can buy points with a PCP. Of course, I will receive the richly deserved credit due me for my advanced theories of pistol shooting.David W. Johnson wrote:You're really pushing those racing stripes. I think I'll have another glass of wine.
