My new-to-me (ie used) LP-5 has a notch machined in the rear of the shroud that I assume is for mounting a weaver ring. However, the profile of the shroud is thicker than actual weaver rail preventing the lower part of the dovetail from capturing the entire 'rail'.
I'd like to use a weaver ring to mount a red-dot with a quick release ring and leave the open sights on the pistol so I can easily switch between the two.
What have others done to mount a red dot on the shroud?

Pilkguns has one for the LP5 it's a little pricey and you have to remove the rear sight. I bought the version for the LP50 works great.

Thanks, I've seen that adapter and may end up getting it but would like to see about using a ring on the shroud.
The one sold on the Pilkguns site only has two notches for rings. If I get an adapter it'd be nice if it was full of slots so I could put the sight anywhere along the length of the adapter.
Maybe I need to get a flat machined on the top of the shroud, on either side of the existing notch so a weaver ring can grab the shroud fully.

Call and make sure the picture is up to date, the one I got for my LP50 had a full set of notches verses the 2 pictured on their site.wasatch wrote:Thanks, ......The one sold on the Pilkguns site only has two notches for rings. Here is a pic of my LP50 with the rail installed.

Re: mounting red dot on LP-5?
I called Pilkguns and ordered one and it does have slots the full length of the rail. :-)
Ordered a Burris Fastfire III to go on top of it.
I figured the rail would allow more mounting options than mounting on the shroud and would also prevent the shroud from getting any scuffs.
