SW Region Pistol Squad Training Academy

Hi,

As a former Team England Pistol Competitor, I established the South West Pistol Squad, with permission from British Shooting, as a not-for-profit Training Academy with the aim of developing our future National Champions by feeding talented pistol shooters into the Team England National Squad.

In our first 3-years of training, 4 of our pistol shooters have been promoted to train with Tom Redhead and TENS Academy; one of whom, Michael Bailey, has since won a Junior International Team Gold Medal.

We also train shooting skills for Pony Club athletes and Pentathletes; so far one of our pentathletes has been promoted to the GB World Pathway Squad and 4 others are in GB Development Squads and English Talent Pathway.

Due to our successes, vacancies are now available for interested pistol shooters.

When you join SWRPS, we more interested in your ambition and willingness to learn than your current level of attainment. In addition, age and ability are no barriers to achievement. Therefore if your are interested in competing for your Country or improving your shooting skills, please contact us.

We offer 15 training sessions per year, which equates to 8-full weekends and 7-Wednesday evenings. Our training year starts on 1st April and we accept new athletes at any point during the year.

I have also published an eBook to support you, 'Competitive Pistol Shooting'. To compete at the top of your chosen sport requires ambition, dedication and enjoyment. You have a single minded strength of purpose to achieve your ambition. Along the way you will meet obstacles and find solutions to overcome them. This book is aimed at competitive pistol shooters who are either starting out in their sport or more experienced competitors who are seeking to improve their performances up to National level. The techniques in this book are suitable for ISSF competition and the shooting events in Pentathlon, Tetrathlon and Pony Club Triathlons.
