Gamo Compact Target Pistol needs a two obligatory lubrication to work properly:
1. Lubrication of air cylinder through the hole of the top of it after 250 shots with the pistol. Use silicone-based lube like Gamo Air Gun Oil.
2. Lubrication of the air valve. Use silicone-based lube (I use gun grease, but this is not recommended).
Gamo Compact has many flaws in the design which makes it not suitable for competitive use as 10m air target pistol. It is not as accurate as claimed by Gamo and can not achieve 0.20 "groups. If you are interested in its real accuracy see this:

Very often I read in the forums things like: "My Compact losing air" or "losing pressure". This is another defect in the construction of the Compact and the mod. PR-45. When air valve become dry its plastic bushing at the lower end of the spring BLOCKS - Valve remains in a bent position ("ENDLESS UNCOCKED MODE" - as I call it) and the gun can not be loaded. Most people think that this is an irreparable defect and return the pistol to Gamo. The solution is simple - this valve should be lubricated regularly as I have shown in the video. The bad thing is that the liquid lubricant is quickly blown by the air - and you have to repeat the procedure often if you shoot often. As I said - I use gun grease, but this is not very good idea - the pistol throw of grease balls in the barrel at the beginning.
Gamo Compact is introductory air gun for 10m target shooting. If you want to deal more seriously with sport shooting buy yourself IZH-46M.

Hi Misny, If you find one cheap enough(under $100) they'll do the job.
My son shot 540 with one. It is accurate enough to put 10 pellets into the
inner 10 ring. His Compact is low powered, has a gritty trigger pull(800g) and
we glued weight to the front end, because the entire pistol was too light.
The front sight is too narrow, but you can create wider light bars because the
rear sight notch is adjustable.
I bought the pistol over a decade ago(for $100 from Big-5) and it isn't used
anymore; but it did the job when required as a starter 10 meter AP.

My son shoots an LP1-C now and I shoot an FWB 100.

Re: Accuracy, Disassembly and maintenance of the Gamo Compac
Miguel Salvador Giménez Carpena, shot a score of 575 with his Gamo Compact in the 2006 airpistol championship of Spain and was declared subchampion, only 1/10 pt. behind first place... On that day, there were some 200 competitors using first tier airpistols, this clearly shows that 99% of the outcome depends on the shooter and not the pistol.EnchevEG wrote:Gamo Compact has many flaws in the design which makes it not suitable for competitive use as 10m air target pistol. You get what you pay for as were told....
The Gamo Compact is in my opinion one of the best 10 meter beginner pistols made.
Several negative comments have been made regarding its function and accuracy, all which can be disputed by owners. It just takes training to be proficient with 10 meter pistols.
I've decided to add a red dot sight to my Gamo and with a little modification it is working great.
Show me any other 10 meter pistol in this $250 range that will out perform the Gamo Compact.

I don't have much experience with other pistols, but I have both Gamo Compact and Daisy 747. To me, Daisy 747 is easier to shoot accurate.ted.howe wrote:You get what you pay for as were told....

It is just my personal experience, the Gamo's trigger is hard.
