That x count pretty much blows everyone away. An incredible feat. I may have to put some money on John to win at Perry this year. :-)

So I'm pretty new to bullseye. There's a competition with 2700 shots in it? (I'm assuming that from the score)

270 shots total with a possible score of 10 points per shot = 2700

Awesome feat and congratulations!! but it has to be a little bitter sweet to be within 1 point of tying a 38 year old record and 2 points of setting a new one. If ever the saying "every point counts" has true meaning this is it. This is a great boost to the sport, when new records are set and old ones are challenged, thank you!!

He only did that well because I gave him a sfogliatelle before the match.

Wow. Amazing!

Can you tell me what he was using (guns and ammo).

Congrats to him and all who saw it!

Yes, for rimfire he was using a Marvel conversion, 2lb trigger and Lapua Center X ammo. For CF and 45 he was using a Marvel 45 and Zero ammunition, 3.5 pound trigger

Just out of curiosity... Anyone know if John shoots roll or crisp triggers?

He uses a crisp trigger (I borrowed his .22 for one match).

He also uses a Free Pistol built for him by Bob Marvel.

Both he and Steve Reiter (5X National Champ who was also at the match, mumbling something about damn Marines) are sponsored by Lapua and Zero bullets. If you like, you could give them a plug with those companies (or even buy the products).

BTW Steve Reiter has set about 20 new National Records this year in the "Old Fart" category. I guess he's not slowing down!

Also present at the previous days' International Match was Ricardo from the La Puente club.

You may remember all those Californians a while back on TT complaining there were no matches in the area. Ricardo complained only a couple were coming out to their matches. Weenies!

They had to bring in an Arizona boy (Zurek) to kick ass at the State AP Championship there.

Thanks for coming out, Ricardo!

John does shoot a crisp trigger. He is sending me his gun to touch up the trigger before he goes to Canton and Perry this year. It's gonna be interesting to say the least.
