H.D High Standerd Miltiary

What kind of 22 is this good, bad ,ugly?? Have a chance to but one with a 4.5 in barrel is it as good or better then a MKIII,

If you mean this is a "HD Military" High Standard, don't bother. It is an obsolete model. HD's were very good pistols though. And your 4.5 barrel is not the ideal length.

The High Standard pistols that you can work with and are still practical to have for bullseye are the 102-107 models. i.e. the "large push button" models.

I agree with the above. This is the cheaper model with the non-adj sights mounted directly on the slide.
Go with a Victor, Trophy or Citation from the Hamden/E. Hartford days or stick with your Ruger option.

Exactly what Gulliver 62 said times a thousand. The High Standards made after the pushbutton models, especially the ones made after Hartford are no good. I have heard that they finally got their act back together but I am going to have to hear several years of everybody saying they are good before I am convinced because they were that bad.
